Lost in a Dream

Poem and photo by Wes Pinter

I had this dream
I was walking the beach
You were standing there
Just beyond my reach

You were dressed in white
A long, flowing gown
I called out your name
You didn’t turn around

So I started toward you
But the sand got deep
When I could not touch you
I began to weep

Trouble was coming
There was nowhere to hide
And I could not save you
From the rising tide

The waves came crashing
You drifted out to sea
I was drowning in sorrow
For it was not meant to be

No cries for help
You had nothing to say
You didn’t wave goodbye
Just floated away

With tears in my eyes
You had faded from view
While I was thrashing about
Trying to make it to you

Man, I tossed and I turned
Then I woke up and cried
But you were lying right here
You never left my side

So hold me forever
And don’t let go
I love you more
Than you will ever know

You were lost in a dream
‘Cause we drifted apart
But you’re still in my life
And you’ll stay in my heart

    • Thanks Melissa! I’m glad you like it! Although I’ve been very busy and haven’t had time to post much lately, I have been writing. I’m currently working on a story involving murder and reincarnation. It’s in the very early stages, but I’m very excited about it and would like to turn it into a novel. As for a book of poetry, I need to get some more material together and might have enough early next year. We’ll see. 🙂 Thanks again for your support and encouragement! Means a lot! ❤😎

  1. This is absolutely beautiful, romantic, heart warming, loving and makes you feel good not to mention gives you goose bumps. Once again you put your heart into this poem and it shows. Love it Wes.
